Dover is situated in the center of southern Vermont, along the spine of the Green Mountains. There is a major ski area, Mount Snow, on its western flank. In the middle is scenic high country that offers lovely housing developments and accessible recreation opportunities. On the east side of town is rolling farmland and open space ringed by mountains.
West Dover is the commercial hub of the community. The North Branch of the Deerfield River cuts through the town and continues south, creating a wide valley that offers a variety of existing businesses, and opportunities for new, along the Route 100 central artery. A variety of restaurants, Inns, B&Bs, and a variety of professional services, creates a wonderful classic New England town atmosphere.
Dover also offers close access to historic downtown's in the communities of Wilmington, Brattleboro, and Bennington which also feature a rich and eclectic mix of dining, recreation, arts, and events. Within a few hours drive on Route 100 (a top 50 drive in the US), you have access to scores of recreation opportunities, activities, dining, and Vermont historic sites. Dover truly provides a home-base to some of the best that our beautiful State has to offer.
